Simply put this is one of the coolest efforts I have ever heard about. The Giant Pouched Rat is smart, has a long lifespan for a rat (about 8 years), and is apparently kinda tasty; but let us not dwell on that part.
Instead let us focus on their uses in detecting landmines and in scanning for tuberculosis, which is just chock full of awesome…
