Daaaaaaammmmmnn you NNNNNBBBBBCCCCC!!!

(Ttrying to do my best Kirk there)

The news is out ow that NBC has gathered up their horses and left iTunes. So no longer can you find programming from the NBC network, NBC news, and CNBC.  Those are the ones that are obvious, but it also means the other networks it isn’t so obvious that they own: Bravo, Sci Fi, Sleuth, USA, and the single most popular networks with Spanish speakers Telemundo (which is just damned fun to say). It also means that shows that NBC makes that are shown on other networks are gone.  Prime example: House M.D.

This is one of the most boneheaded (in my opinion) moves a major company has done.  So you had people willing to pay you for each episode.  You had a company that said that they would take the bandwidth cost.  They would make the content viewable on Mac, Windows, and the single most popular portable device ever.  You looked at this user base and said (in effect) “They don’t matter, they will mindlessly follow no matter what we do.”

So now what happens? Well I TiVo the show, fast forward the commercials and when the DVD comes out I buy it used.  Now how does that help you guys at NBC how?
