Sad Duty
It is my sad duty to say that Pierce William Murphy will not be possesing his mortal coil for much longer. Perhaps as much as two days from today and within spitting distance of his 90th birthday.
I lack the words to express just how I feel right now…
It is like someone is having an affair inside my nose
Woman arrested after fatal crash →
“The tanker driver died at the scene, Warwickshire Police said. No-one else was injured.” True, but I know the guy who was shaken up by it all. Having been right next to the man killed.
Of course you are my favorite MOMS!

Customizing Google Notifier →
This is the kind of thing that explains why Google earns the loyalty it does. Their tools are peppered with little things like this. Cool ways to extend their software, to glue them together. It goes a long way.

The future is where you find it...
Note none of the below is exclusive to the iPhone. It is just what I used in this case.
I had just laid back into the bed to cuddle with my wife. We started to discuss the subject of breakfast, but couldn’t remember when a paticular restraunt stopped serving the first meal of the day.
I was about to get up to the computer, go look them up, then call them; at that moment I remembered...
About the Google Profile →
I recently had a conversation about how I don’t like social network sites — or at least generalist social networks. I believe that SNs work best (or really at all) when you are talking about small groups (a softball leauge, your company, etc). This is why I think that Ning is a great idea.
But why should I need MySpace, Facebook, etc? They feel like they are trying to create...

Is it wrong?
Is it wrong that I wait till my wife is out of the house so I can watch The Spongebob Squarepants Movie?
FireWire spec to boost data speeds to 3.2 Gbps →
This is good news. It really is. Firewire is better than USB in almost every way that matters. I wonder if the world (and not just niches) will care…
You know how sometimes you experience the history of poo?

Dear USA Network...
Dear USA Network,
When you got the show Law & Order: Criminal Intent did they give you the bible for the show? Were all the pages there? Are you sure? Because it really does feel like you have forgotten a few things.
All the best!
Cats Laughing →
Cats Laughing was the name of one of my favorite bands of all time. It consited of a number of muscians from Minneapolis (most of whom were also sci fi/fantasy authors). There albums went out of print long ago. Eventually you could order “offical bootlegs.” Now at long last the CDs are back in print and and MP3s can be purchased online. Do yourself a favor, check out the album...

So Adam and Eve were wearing leather pants?
DestapaBanana well received by the industry →
Yes. Yes I see it now. Regular bananas are just to boring for this new hip generation. This will revive the industry.
Also: for the love of god bananas are phallic enough, they don’t need to be cream filled for people to get the point!

Dear Television Networks...
Dear Television Networks,
So I was watching Law & Order: Criminal Intent (yes I admit I have an unreasonable love for procedurals, so sue me) on USA, and I noticed that you were trying some novel approaches. In this case you had a sole sponsor, and has some mini breaks. Your not alone. All the cool kids seem to be doing this. Lost has embedded clues in commercials. Sci Fi has put...
Dear BBC America
Dear BBC America,
I have had the opportunity to compare the same episode of Top Gear from the source (the BBC obviously) and from BBC America (what is technically my only option), and all I can say is that the BBC America version has be neutered and had it’s soul ripped out. The news section (some of the funniest material) is ripped out, it seems to be further edited for more commercials. ...
Yet another reason to not like Tom Tancedo... →
It isn’t like I was looking for another reason. He isn’t going to win the nomination, it is amazing he is still in the game but once the real game starts with the primaries he is going to drop like a stone. But I mean this just crosses so many lines, it is so racist and xenophobic. To quote a far better man than myself: Have you no sense of decency, sir? At long last, have you left...

I wonder it there is a diagnostic term for the craving for Fanta Orange Soda?
Third Installment Of Caveman's Crib is up →
Actually it probably has been up for a while since I think it was Halloween themed.
Why does this compel me so? Caveman’s Crib is like a combination of episodic fiction and and ARG. The second episode differed greatly from the first. The layout of the apartment was different. It felt too much like a push for the TV series. This third installment seems much more on point. It connects...
Paul Thurrott's review of the Kindle →
Now that we know more about the Kindle, not that people are actually using them; it seems that the Kindle is a “get it” kind of device. Either you “get it” or you don’t.
The one’s who don’t are the ones who focus on the look of the device (to me it looks like a kind of retro homage to the Mac 128, and the Apple ][, but that may just be me). Or they get...
Daaaaaaammmmmnn you NNNNNBBBBBCCCCC!!!

The news is out ow that NBC has gathered up their horses and left iTunes. So no longer can you find programming from the NBC network, NBC news, and CNBC. Those are the ones that are obvious, but it also means the other networks it isn’t so obvious that they own: Bravo, Sci Fi, Sleuth, USA, and the single most popular networks with Spanish speakers...
Confession
I am sure I am not the first to say that it was a few months before I realized it wasn’t “Workin’ in a coal mine. Goin’ downtown.“ Of course it didn’t make much sense that way either, unless it was some kind of miner equaity protest song…
